Bye Bye Microsoft Powerpoint

As writely replaces Word, will Preezo replace Powerpoint?

For those mistaking Preezo to be comparable to other lesser presentation mortals, they don’t realize the fact that it has an editor which was built from ground up instead of being another “design” mode hack. Trust me, there is almost no startup or company that has tried doing that, not even much acclaimed Writely. With the kick-ass editor in place, Preezo is all set to deliver real powerful features soon like transformations and animations that will make sure you won’t miss Microsoft Powerpoint at all.

Quitting OSI

Leaving OSI over a free software dispute.

Although I had thought myself an active member and fervent evangelist of this community I obviously was not. This became clear when the OSI board clearly coached Ross Mayfield, CEO of Socialtext, on what and how to submit when he resubmitted his badgeware license, renamed CPAL. The board then approved, in a private session at OSCON this license against the wishes of the community at large. A license that is not even compatible with the most widely used free software licenses: GPL and LGPL. Also disturbing to me is the fact that Socialtext had, for as much as, four years claimed to be an open source company, but never released a single line of source code for the software they were distributing for a fee.

Flirting With Flash

A look at marketing talent for Flash, JavaScript, and AJAX developers.

JavaScript developers discarded the stigmata of the “move stuff around, require certain browser settings and pop things up” days of DHTML and embraced Dom Scripting and later on Ajax taking over the web application world by storm. By now having JavaScript as an interest on your CV does not get you a confused shake of the head but is actually sought after by headhunters.

Flex Plus Ruby On Rails

For long running tasks, consider using Flex with Ruby on Rails.

This is another example of collaboration between Flex and Ruby on Rails, which is my favorite web solution. It’s written by Rowan Hick.

Eric Schmidt Define La Web 3.0

This blogger doesn't agree that Web 2.0 is based on AJAX.

¿Decir que la Web 2.0 está basada en AJAX? ¿Desde cuando AJAX definió la Web 2.0?. Si te gusta llamarle Web 2.0, al menos ten en cuenta que todo eso involucra al menos:
