MonoRail And WebControls

The Yahoo! User Interface Library is free and provides support for Ruby on Rails.

The beauty of a control library like this is that as you become more and more familiar with it, you’re not locking yourself into a specific framework. The YUI Library will work with static HTML files, Ruby on Rails, ASP.NET and (you guessed it) MonoRail. Why wouldn’t you give this library a look?

Online Research Tools

A look at Microsoft's Onfolio for research.

Though not directly geared at academia, Microsoft has a comparable offering called Onfolio for Windows Live Toolbar. Onfolio, originally started by Coldfusion inventor JJ Allaire, was acquired by Microsoft last year. There is an advanced bookmarking feature and you can save partial or complete web sites. You can organize your research collections in an Explorer like experience and you can search this. There are also collaboration features.

Microsoft Takes On Free World

Microsoft is threatening free software with patents infringement.

. . . there's a shadow hanging over Linux and other free software, and it's being cast by Microsoft. The Redmond behemoth asserts that one reason free software is of such high quality is that it violates more than 200 of Microsoft's patents. And as a mature company facing unfavorable market trends and fearsome competitors like Google, Microsoft is pulling no punches: It wants royalties. If the company gets its way, free software won't be free anymore.

End Of Paid For Video?

Services like BitTorrent make it harder for pay-for video services to survive.

Or just take it off the 'Net on bitTorrent etc.......is there perhaps an alternative scenario that says people will pay for quality or download for free off "p2p sites, and ignore any site that overdoes the Ads?

RSS Content Search In IE7

Is Onfolio the only RSS content search solution for IE7?

I don't know of any mechanism to search my RSS feeds within IE 7. Does anyone know how? It bothers me to no end. My solution is to export and bring it into Onfolio (I had Onfolio before Microsoft purchased). I wish Microsoft would have just used Onfolio as it's RSS mechanism embedded in IE 7. Instead it will wilt on the vine.

Backup Outlook Express Email

Isn't free software to make a Microsoft product work an oxymoron?

I’m using Outlook Express to send and receive my email during office hours and it is necessary for me to backup the important emails periodically. I have spent a lot of time to search the free software to backup the email from Outlook Express, at last I found this software is only allowed 30 days trials, it is not very useful because I can’t backup my email after one month because this software will be expired and even you reinstall also cannot use at all.
