Paul Flaherty Dies
One of the early search engine designers, Paul Flaherty died recently.
It is sad to hear that one of the pioneers in search-engine technology passed away young at the age of only 42. Paul Flaherty was one of the driving forces and masterbrains behind (originally) Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC)'s AltaVista, which was one of the first real search engines. I personally liked and used it alot back then and because AV helped me numerous times and saved me countless hours, I really do want to express my compassion and condolences for his friends and family.
