From a post on how to make your blog work better, some tips on branding and email addresses:

Ok. Yeah the whole @aol.com is a great reference. What about @gmail.com? If I was working with someone on something technical and they didn’t have a gmail account (even if they don’t use it) I would think they are kind of weird. In no way would I look ‘down’ at them because they had a Shared email account. Blogspot, typepad are fine services. Many well-know people use these services because it meets their needs.
